I like finding a good deal. I love rummaging through thrift stores, clipping coupons, and salvaging vintage finds. I’m not afraid of a yard sale, and I admit that I sometimes hit up a curb alert on Craigslist (you’ll be amazed at what others throw out). So, when a dainty little china set like Chirp comes along, for a few moments, it makes all that conventional frugal wisdom fly out the window.

chirp china setWhen I found this set on The Pioneer Woman, my heart skipped a beat. I have been searching for dinnerware with these colors and a bird design for ages with no luck. This is exactly what I imagined they would look like.

chirp3 300x199 Then Along Came ChirpSo, I visited the Lenox website and discovered that these beauties cost $100 per setting, and that’s the sale price. I’d easily need at least 8 place settings plus bowls, mugs, salad plates, and dessert plates. When you do the math, it’s not pretty.

Surely Target will be making a knock-off soon, right?
