In November, I set my monthly intentions and I have to say, I did a pretty good job! I didn’t meet all of my goals, but I’m okay with that. I did my best and it paid off. I’m 7 pounds lighter, I’ve eaten a variety of new and exciting whole foods, I got much closer to getting Sharon’s gift done, and I’ve recorded Rebound on a steady schedule. My other goals did go unmet, but they make an appearance again this month.
My December 2009 intentions are:
Work
- Record 4 Rebound episodes
- Create and stick to morning routine
Life
- Eat whole foods/foods that are grown
- Complete a will and trust
Craft
- Finish Sharon’s gift
Spirituality
- Meditate & pray each morning
- Quit coffee
- Write in cursive for an entire week
And a new series coming this Spring…

I was offered an amazing opportunity recently to work alongside a small farmer during the upcoming growing season to learn more about sustainable gardening. To say I’m super-excited is an understatement. I’m a very lucky gal, so I’ll be sharing the things I learn with you along the way. This spring, look for gardening and harvest tips on the blog. The series is yet to be named, so if you have a good idea for a name, share it in the comments!
I met with him just the other day since he picked his last harvest of peppers and he offered to share some with me. The photo above shows fresh Anaheim & Carmen peppers on my countertop and a mix of hot peppers in the dehydrator.
Yum!

I soooo wish I could garden at my home! Alas, we have too much shade and gardens don’t grow there. Someday we hope to build a house and one of my requisites in looking for property is to find a place that has lots of room for gardening. I don’t really know anything about sustainable gardening vs. plain old ordinary gardening, so I’m interested to see what you learn.
Karen.
I recently found out that there’s a community garden here in town that we can buy into for only $20 per month, so if you ask around at your local farmers market, you might have some luck finding a small plot of land to garden on at a good price.
Sustainable gardening is really just plain old gardening, but it’s organic, gentle, and for us, will provide the bulk of the food for our family so that we are not as reliant on conventional produce.
[...] Healthwise, it’s all about making small changes over the year for a big overall change by next New Years Day. My goal for this year is to lose 50 pounds and to develop a workout schedule that I can be consistent with each week. I think for now that means that I’ll do a lot of walking/jogging, and I’ll be listening to lots of Indie Soup Runner and DJ Count’s new wave mixes. Over the course of the year, I’ll be cutting out alcohol, caffeine and sugar completely. I’ll continue to focus on eating whole foods and growing a sustainable garden. [...]
[...] while back, I promised a series about gardening for those that are new to gardening or that had tried it a few times, like me, with little success. [...]
